I consider myself very fortunate to have spent most of my childhood in the parish of Chiddingstone, Kent. My grandfather was the tenant of Truggers Farm, Chiddingstone Hoath, and Chiddingstone Primary was my first experience of school. After a very short move to Hildenborough, near Tonbridge, we moved back to the parish, to the small hamlet of Bough Beech where we stayed until moving to Groombridge after I had left Chiddingstone School for The Skinners' School in Tunbridge Wells. Here is a collection of images I have collected of the village and district over the years. Clicking on the thumbnail will open the full size image in another window. I have purchased an article dated 1891 from an American Magazine entitled "The Century Monthly Magazine", which has pictures of Chiddingstone, Truggers Farm and other nearby locations, together with a dated but very interesting and entertaining description of the area for an North American audience.
