THE EAST WINDOW IN THE LADY CHAPEL

Click here to return to the Lavenham Windows page.

The east window in the Lady Chapel, of fine Victorian glass, shows in the upper light Jesus blessing children dressed in both in costume from the time of Christ and the 16th century, when the chapel was built.  Below is the incident described in Matthew 26 when a woman anoints Jesus' feet with costly ointment and wipes them with her hair.  This takes place in the house of Simon the leper in Bethany.  Judas is shown, extreme right, with his bag containing the thirty pieces of silver, the reward for his betrayal.
