The Gog, Petworth, West Sussex

When I was a child we had many camping holidays 'up on the Gog' - near the small village of Byworth.  I have no idea where the name came from, the local people never seemed to have an explanation either - perhaps you know, if so do get in touch! The area has lovely woodlands, which in the 1970s contained several ruined cottages and barns, which we had great fun exploring.  I expect they are either long gone or converted to expensive holiday homes!
