Designed by Sir Gilbert Scott, this church was erected between 1858 and 1863 and was paid for by the founder, Reverend Frederick Jeremiah Smith (curate of Holy Trinity Church). It cost him £12,000 - quite a sum in the 19th century.
The church contains a Father Willis organ, installed in 1864.
The church has a website with some pictures of the interior, and from where the notes on this page were gleaned.
